This week on Playful Preschool, our preschool lesson plan is Night Time. For this activity, I decided to kick it up a notch with J and to channel her high energy into something different. And what better way to do that if not through DANCE! Today, I will be sharing with you a fun way to incorporate the sounds of the Just a quick recap, Playful Preschool is a group of bloggers coming together to present fun and hands on ideas on a weekly theme. We cover subjects such as literacy and math as well as movement.
Night Time Sounds
What sounds can you think of when you hear the words, “night time”? When I asked J, we came up with a few different ones. Once she was all done listing the ones she knew, the fun REALLY started. To do this activity, I found sound clips of different night time animals from SoundBoard.com and then we tried to mimic them and create a little dance for each. Please be warned, embarrassing pictures ahead.
Night Time Sound #1- The Barred Owl
J knew this one right off the bat. She made the appropriate sound but when I asked her to move the way an owl would, it got downright silly. Silly is perfectly fine in my book.
Night Time Sound #2- The Cricket
Did you know that it is mainly the male crickets that chirp? Crickets are either black or brown and have six legs: 4 for walking and 2 for jumping. Chirping is done by rubbing the top of one wing against the bottom of another wing.
Night Time Sound #3- The Bat
The next animal for our dance was the bat. I thought her face during her dance was HILARIOUS!! She flapped her wings like a bat and tried to keep in tune to the sounds of bats fluttering. Most of J’s dances seem to be quite similar but that is quite fine as to her they were all different.
