Now that fall is here, are you thinking of fun ways to teach your child about the new season? Have they started asking questions about the cooler weather or why the leaves are changing color? My kids have taken note of the yards being carpeted with acorns as well as the busy squirrels going up and down the trees. J has always been fascinated with acorns and so last year I created an acorn sensory bin for her. This year however I wanted to create an activity that would increase both of my kids vocabulary while making it a sensory experience. The #teachECE team will be sharing their Fall STEM activities so that you will have enough ideas for the fall.
What did my kids do to increase their vocabulary while having some sensory fun? They played with their parts of an acorn playdough cards.

The cards were modeled off the Montessori 3 part cards style except they used playdough to cover up the part that is being focused on. J had playdough cards while C had playdough sheets so that he could manipulate and identify the parts a bit easier.
